A call center is an institution composed of agents who literally represent a particular company. Inside this advanced establishment are a number of people who are divided into different departments in order to have a faster and more effective flow of communication. Before digging deeper to a call centers core, one must first know what it is.
Call centers are firms hired by companies to aid them in providing service for customers. Because of call centers, a company doesnt have to directly deal with their customers. The agents representing the company undergo proper call handling training and are taught to know the details about the accounts products and services so as to cater to its customers needs.
Call center work starts as a consumer contacts the company. Instead of routing the call directly to the company itself, it would be transmitted to a trained representative of a call center. A call centers first line of defense is its CSRs, or customer service representatives. Basic or general information and troubleshooting are entertained by the CSRs. However, when things get too technical, the call is transferred to a different agent called TSR or technical support representative.
Usually, this department has divisions of its own, called tiers. These experts can handle complex issues which range from the mildest to the most complicated technical setbacks experienced by a customer. The first tier agents handle the calls and attempt to troubleshoot the issue. If the issue is too technical, the call is transferred to the second tier representatives. Representatives of this sector experience more tension than any other departments in a call center.
When a customer gets aggravated due to the fact that the issue is still left unresolved despite all the troubleshooting processes taken, the call would be diverted to a much higher responsibility where supervisors and other team leaders are managing. There are divisions in a call center which do not involve call handling as well.
There is also a different unit which deals with billing. Billing agents call customers to follow up the payment status of their bills. A call center is as diverse as its customers are, and they should be treated respectfully.
