In today's difficult economy, there are still several industries that are looking for new employees.  The key to finding a new job in 2011 is to know where to look.

The health care industry continues to grow.  The positions that are most in demand include nurses and patient-care technicians.  Some companies that are currently hiring health care workers include Genesis Healthcare, Gentiva Health, HCR ManorCare, and HCA.  Other important positions include physical therapist and occupational therapist.

Another area that is still thriving is information technology.  For those who have the right skills, there are plenty of options in this sector, including positions for network engineers, software engineers, and specialists in cloud computing.  In particular, IBM, Microsoft, General Dynamics, SAIC, Amazon, and Northrop Grumman are looking to fill such positions at this time.

Retail is an industry that has recently seen a rise in growth.  As consumers begin to return to their old shopping habits, retail stores are looking to increase their manpower.  Some well-known retail stores that are currently hiring new employees include Staples, AT&T, Sears, Advance Auto Parts, and JCPenney.

The financial sector has also rebounded and is now looking to fill vacant positions for financial analysts, financial advisors, lending specialists, as well as auditors.  Citigroup, Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, PNC, and Wells Fargo are just a few of the companies that are now looking to hire new workers.

A related field, accounting, has also seen recent growth.  As a result, accountants are now in demand.  Ernst & Young, Bank of America, ADP, Deloitte, KPMG, and PricewaterhouseCoopers are searching for new accountants due to changes in financial regulations.

Transportation is another growing field that is good for new workers.  UPS, FedEx, Central Refrigerated, Heartland Express, Schneider National, and C.R. England are all looking for drivers and warehouse workers, among other positions.

Finding a new job in the new year can be easier than anticipated if you know where to look.
