A marketing plan strategy is a fundamental element to your success as a business. If you do not have a plan, then you are planning to fail. This is where you should start before you buy your first advertisement or try to sell your first product. This article will provide a simple framework to help you nail down your plan and carve out your niche in the marketplace.

There is a lot of information available to help you with your about marketing plan strategy, but I'm going to keep it simple. Your strategy should have clarity in three main elements. You should have clarity on the customer you plan to target. You should have clarity on the product you plan to sell. You should have clarity on the method you will use to distribute your product to the masses.

Be careful not to get distracted by the many business frameworks available on bookshelves and websites. There are many clever questions you could flirt with, many long meetings you could sit through and tons of big books you can read. Still, the fastest way between your concept and its reality is to work through these three main concepts. What customer will you target, what product will you sell, and how will you distribute your product?

So why is it important to have an intelligent marketing plan strategy? It is important to make sure your product is specifically different than your competition before you begin to spend any money and time. You should think about where your competitors live in the marketplace. Are they high priced or low priced? Are they based in entertainment or information? Are they targeting gender demographics (male/female) or social demographics (rich/poor)?

Once you understand the competitive landscape, you can understand exactly where your product will find success. This is where solid thinking around your product, your customer, and your distribution method begin to have real traction. A clear marketing plan strategy determines how your customers receive you. The best strategy leads to the best customer response!

So what is the first step to create a great marketing plan strategy? Well, again there are three main pieces. You've got your customer, your product, and your distribution method. In regards to distribution, I believe that the most efficient and effective method is to have an internet marketing strategy involving email. There is no better way to reach and create community with an audience. I strongly encourage you to use the internet and email as your primary distribution method.

The other two pieces are your product and customer. Depending on how you think about your business, you can start in either place. If you know exactly who you want to target and why then you should be thinking about what product you can sell them. If you know you have a drop dead product already built, then you should be thinking about what customer would LOVE to buy it from you. This is the simplest way to create the most effective marketing plan strategy.
